Janice Peterson, Ph.D.
Dr. Janice Peterson received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She also holds an M.A. in Agricultural Economics (Community Economic Development) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a B.A. in Economics from California State University, Fresno. Before joining the faculty at California State University, Fresno, Dr. Peterson was a faculty member at Wells College and at the State University of New York, Fredonia, where her areas of specialty included the economic status of women, social welfare policy, and economic education (curriculum and pedagogy). She also worked on welfare reform, workforce development, and retirement policy issues in Washington, D.C. at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). In her position as CERECC's Director of Education, Dr. Peterson is working to bring the insights of economic research on the Central Valley to local teachers through workshops and new curriculum materials. Dr. Peterson serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Economics Issues, and continues to write on national public policy issues.
