Partnerships for Instructional Excellence (PIE) is a reciprocal peer
coaching program in which pairs of instructors act as trained
observers of each others' courses. PIE requires 10 to 12 hours during
the semester, including the orientation session, pre-observation
conferences, classroom observations, post-observation debriefings,
and periodic group meetings of PIE participants.
PIE is completely independent of personnel processes, although, at
participants' request, letters acknowledging their commitment to
outstanding teaching will be sent to their department chairs.
Partners are generally at the same rank, but from different
disciplines, and observation results remain confidential between the
partners. You will select your own partner, and opportunities will be
provided to meet other prospective participants. Anyone teaching at
California State University, Fresno is welcome to participate in PIE.
Many PIE partners return semester after semester. Join us to see why.
What can you expect from PIE ?
- A safe way to see your teaching as others see you.
- An opportunity to work on the facets of your teaching that
concern you most.
- Stimulating discussions about teaching with some of the best
faculty on campus.
