Engaged students become educated citizens. How do we accomplish the engagement?

Our goal is to highlight the major efforts in student engagement across the country as well as foster conversations among the participants about the problems inherent in a culture which pushes liberal education but extracts career development.

This workshop will address three facets of student engagement:
Session 1: where students begin - first year programs;
Session 2: innovative approaches - service learning and undergraduate research;
Session 3: hot topics - general education, for-profit institutions, online teaching, career development.
