Curriculum Activities for the Elementary Classroom—An Independent Study Course
These standards-based instructional activities teach and reinforce many concepts taught in the elementary grades in the areas of math and science. Teachers will engage their students in grade-level appropriate learning games and hands-on science activities. Teachers will be presented with high-interest math activities that center around place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, time, money, and measurement.
Throughout this course, teachers will create an environment in which they work together with their students as active learners. Assignments are available for use with or without classroom student participation.
A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be granted to participants requesting a refund within 30 days of the registration date. All materials must be returned to the instructor unused in order to receive a refund. No refunds will be made after 30 days past registration date.

Integrating Life Science in the Elementary Classroom—An Independent Study Course
This course combines science theory with hands-on experiments dealing with life science concepts. Teachers in grades K-8 will be provided with opportunities to engage their students in relevant learning experiences, while increasing their own content knowledge in the area of life science.
This course is designed to enhance the classroom teacher’s ability to teach life science in a meaningful way through utilizing the methods and activities that spark the student’s desire to learn. Fun and motivating, the activities cover general botany and biology as well as the
human body—bones, muscles, circulatory and respiratory systems, senses and the brain. Many of the activities are perfect for use at home in order to encourage parental involvement in the educational process of their child. Teachers will also have the opportunity to locate and explore appropriate learning activities available on the Internet. Assignments are available for use with or without classroom student participation.

Kitchen, Garage, and Garbage Can Science—An Independent Study Course
This course is designed for elementary teachers in grades K-6 who desire to
increase their content knowledge in physical science and sharpen teaching skills. This course combines science theory with hands-on experiments.
Teachers will be provided with high interest, ready-to-use science investigations. Each of the activities utilizes easy-to-find materials, many of which are included in the course materials, and all are demonstrated on a videotape. Concepts covered in this course include magnetism, air pressure, gravity, energy, and the properties of air, oil, and water. Students will also engage in some simple chemistry experiments using vinegar, baking soda, butter and other foods. Teachers will also have the opportunity to explore the information-rich environment of the Internet as they locate relevant learning experiences. Assignments are available for use with or without classroom student participation.
