Kids on Campus

Science Adventures

This program for children in kindergarten through grade six is designed to improve science literacy through educational and exciting “hands-on” activities and projects. A team of qualified teachers will teach the program.

The program has four new week-long full-day camps. You may register your child for one week or any combination of two or more weeks.

All camps include a free Friday pizza lunch and a Science Adventures visor. One child’s admission ticket for a Downing Planetarium visit is included for the camps taking place at Fresno State only.

Camp schedule Monday – Friday:

  • 8:10 – 8:30 a.m: check-in
  • 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m: camp activities

Camp Fees:

For best savings, register early.

  • Register by May 15: $289 per week
  • Register after May 15: $299 per week

Discounts:

A family discount is available on a one-time basis and may be applied to the total registration fees per family. In order to receive a family discount, all registration forms must be submitted at the same time.

  • Two camps per family – $50 off total registration
  • Three camps per family – $75 off total registration
  • Four or more camps per family – $95 off total registration

Week 1: Gizmo's Robot Factory - Visalia (cancelled - please check back next summer)

For children entering grades K – 4

robotBuild, customize, and battle with your very own walking K’Nex robot! Discover the secrets behind robo-cool tools as you build a satellite, investigate top-secret listening devices and craft a periscope. View colors in 3-D “robot vision” and even explore your own color creations at home. Campers will kick it into high gear while crafting a robot tool kit and creating their own motorized invention.

    8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Week 2: Gizmo's Robot Factory

Week 3: Powerful Planet

For children entering grades K – 6

planetLet’s team up to explore the planet’s most powerful forces! Learn how new sources of energy can make the planet a better place to live by building speeding electric cars, cooking up s’mores using solar energy and creating your own water filtration system! Stay all day to solve the mystery of endangered sea turtles. Recreate their environment to learn about the dangers they face on their adventurous journey to the sea.

Week 4: Space and Rocketry 2009

For children entering grades K – 6

spaceBlast off from planet Earth to explore the farthest reaches of the universe by launching your very own rocket! Parachute down to the rocky and treacherous Mars terrain, while you investigate the magnificent planets of our universe. Construct your electric Mars Rover to uncover the mysteries on the planet’s surface. Space: no longer the final frontier!
