Online Career Programs
The Division of Continuing and Global Education at California State University, Fresno is pleased to offer new online career training certificate programs with content and materials provided by Gatlin Education Services, the leader in online certification programs.
These programs prepare students for developing expertise in their desired career field and/or prepare for industry certification exams. Although each course is self-study, each online course has an instructor assigned to facilitate student questions and problems. Each program has specific learning outcomes related to industry standards.

Courses Offered
Administrative Medical Specialist with Medical Billing and Coding
300 Hours – Fee:

This online program teaches students medical office operations, with an emphasis on billing and coding, processing insurance forms, and using medical software. This program provides training on medical billing software as well as preparation for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) national certification exam. All materials including student version of medical billing software included.
Administrative Medical Specialist with Medical Billing and Coding + Medical Terminology
360 Hours – Fee:

The Medical Terminology online course for healthcare professionals introduces elements of medical terminology, such as the etymology of words used to describe the human body. Students learn to apply proper terminology and spelling for major pathological conditions. Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to sit for two National Healthcareers Association exams: the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam. You can take both of these exams in a dual certification track through NHA.
Advanced Coding for the Physician’s Office
80 Hours – Fee:

CPT, ICD-9-CM (Volumes I and II), and HCPCS Level II Coding, and much more is covered in this online, instructor-led program. This program prepares students to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification exam.
Advanced Hospital Coding and CCS Prep

This Advanced Hospital Coding course prepares students to take the American Health Information Management Association’s (AHIMA) official certification exam to become a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Advanced Personal Fitness Trainer
240 Hours – Fee: $2,795
This interactive, comprehensive Web-based program includes the basic Personal Fitness Training program (also offered separately), along with additional material on nutritional management, resistance biomechanics, and functional flexibility. Students will also have the opportunity to take an optional field internship elective course. Materials are included.
Certified Global Business Professional

This is a nationally recognized online course and training program for the Certified Global Business Professional Credential Exam. The Global Business Professional certification is a prestigious acknowledgement of international business expertise. The North American Small Business International Trade Educators Association (NASBITE) Certified Global Business Professional Credential (CGBP) provides a benchmark for competency in global commerce. This online certificate program is only offered in partnership with major colleges and universities.
Certified Wedding Planner – 300 Hours Fee: $1,395
The Certified Wedding Planning Program is perfect for the individual looking to get started as a professional wedding planner right away. This comprehensive program covers everything an aspiring wedding planner needs to know to get started in the business, from contracts to etiquette, flowers, music, day of services, marketing, business practices, trade secrets and industry specific applications. Whether you plan on working part-time, planning only a few weddings a year, or a full-time career, this program will provide all the tools necessary to work as a professional wedding planner or start your wedding planning business.
Chartered Tax Professional – 180 Hours – $1,795
The Chartered Tax Professional Online Certificate Program will teach you to prepare tax returns for individuals, small business corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships. In fact, you can start working and earning money while completing the program. After successfully finishing just the first two modules in the Chartered Tax Professional Certificate Program, you'll be qualified to prepare individual tax returns for almost all U.S. taxpayers.
Chartered Tax Professional for
California Residents – 200 Hours –

With this innovative nationally recognized online California Chartered Tax Professional Certificate Program, students can become qualified as California Tax Preparers through the California Tax Education Council (CTEC), and start working and earning money while completing coursework. The CTP® certificate program is comprised of 6 courses in Federal Income Tax Preparation, plus a California supplement. After successfully completing the first two Federal courses and the California lessons in the CTP® certificate program, (most students finish in just 10 weeks or less) you will be qualified to prepare individual tax returns for almost all U. S. and California taxpayers. While you apply what you’ve learned and earn money as a California tax preparer, you continue your studies in advanced individual tax preparation which will enable you to serve clients with more complex tax situations and increase your earning potential. Next you will learn to prepare returns for small business corporations and partnerships and more complex sole proprietorships. This opens up a new, more lucrative market for you while you continue to learn to help small businesses with more complex tax situations.
Notice: If you do NOT live in California, you are not required to take this California version of the CTP® program. If you do not need to or wish to learn California tax preparation, you should take our Federal CTP® program instead of the California version of the program.
Event Management and Design

This exciting online program is structured to provide both practical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the modern special event industry. Event Management and Design will equip you with the knowledge to advance in the field if you are already working in events, or to prepare you to enter the profession with an understanding of the industry and knowing what you are getting yourself into. It offers a foundation which you can use to build a career in special events or start your own special event business.
This program is split up into two
modules: Special Event Management and Special Event Design and Decoration. Each module includes multiple units complete with interactive media-rich presentations.
Graphic Design With Photoshop CS5 Training

Help Desk Analyst: Tier 1 Support Specialist
80 Hours - Fee: $1,495
As more and more companies grow to rely on ever-increasing and more complex technologies to satisfy production and service demands, the need for those equipped to support those technologies while maintaining high customer-satisfaction levels also increases. This program uniquely prepares the support specialist to keep the customer productive by focusing on the business needs of the customer, establishing credibility and trust, and by handling the most difficult customer scenarios.
ICD-10 Medical Coding
200 Hours - Fee: $1,595
ICD-10 is a radically upgraded diagnostic and procedural medical coding system and will soon be mandated by the Federal government for use in the healthcare industry in insurance processing, reimbursement, and statistical data gathering. This program teaches students how to prepare for and implement the massive changes to the existing coding system.
Legal Secretary – 350 Hours – Fee: $2,095
This program teaches students all the skills they need to work for a lawyer in a law office. They will master everything from legal office management and accounting to legal terminology and legal writing. Upon completion, you’ll possess the knowledge necessary to successfully pass the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALS) Accredited Legal Secretary (ALS) examination.
Medical Billing and Coding – 240 Hours – Fee: $1,595
The Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) will give you the skills you need to find the job you are looking for as a Medical Billing Specialist or Medical Coder.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. You will also be eligible to register, prepare, and take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)'s Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification examination.
Medical Billing and Coding + Medical Terminology – 300 Hours – Fee: $1,895
This nationally recognized Medical Billing and Coding and Medical Terminology online certificate program is designed to prepare you for a position as a medical coding and billing professional.
The Medical Terminology portion of the course introduces elements of medical terminology, such as the etymology of words used to describe the human body. Upon successful completion of the Medical Billing and Coding + Medical Terminology course, you'll be prepared for an entry-level position doing medical billing or coding in a medical office setting and will be eligible to register, prepare, and take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)'s Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification exam.
Medical Terminology – 60 Hours – Fee: $595
The Medical Terminology Online Training Program will give you a full understanding of medical terminology, from word origins to their application. You’ll learn the correct terms and spelling for all of the body systems, major pathological conditions, disorders, treatments, medications, and more. The textbook is included.
Medical Transcription – 240 Hours - Fee: $1,595
This online, instructor-led program prepares students to start a new career as a Medical Transcriptionist. A medical terminology course is included at no extra cost! Transcriber and all materials included.
Medical Transcription + Medical Terminology – 300 Hours – Fee: $1,895
The Medical Transcription + Medical Terminology program will give you the necessary knowledge and skills to start a new career as a medical transcriptionist. To work in this field, you need to understand and correctly spell medical terms. This program includes complete medical terminology training to set you up for success. Transcription equipment and all materials are included.
Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Server Administrator (MCITP) – 240 Hours – Fee: $1,895
Students will learn to administer and manage Windows 2008 Networks and to take the Microsoft 70-640, 70-642 and 70-646 exams that qualify you for MCITP certification.
Microsoft Web Developer – 200 Hours – Fee: $1,995
Students will learn how to develop Web pages using .NET Framework 3.5. When you’ve completed the program, you’ll be fully prepared to take the Microsoft 70-536 and 70-562 exams and become a fully proficient Microsoft Web Developer. Skills you’ll master in this program include installing and using Visual Studio 2008, using web developer express, and debugging code. You’ll also explore HTML concepts, elements and tags, attributes, hyperlinks and anchors, image management, XML, CSS, .NET programming, ASP.NET, JQuery, AJAX, ASP .NET Web Applications, and .NET Framework 3.5.
Paralegal – 225 Hours – Fee: $1,795
This program prepares students to be successful in the fast growing paralegal career field. It includes free access to the official NALA Campus certification exam prep and Westlaw. Students will be prepared for entry-level Paralegal positions and will receive official NALA national certification exam preparation. All materials are included.
Personal Fitness Trainer – 150 Hours Fee: $2,095
Content and curriculum within each section of this unique program are designed to present the student with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to implement a unique medically-based fitness model for their future or current clients. Students will also have the opportunity to take an optional field internship elective course. Materials are included.
Project Management Training Certificate
40 Hours – Fee: $1,495
Project management is growing exponentially. It’s now used in virtually all industries, including health care, government, education and banking. Projects are how these organizations streamline to improve productivity. As mid-level management positions are reduced, project managers fill the void. Expertise in project management is a source of security, prosperity and power to these survivors. To take the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification test, 35 contact hours of project management education are needed. These hours must include content on project quality, scope, time, cost, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and integration management. Residential Interior Designer – 120 Hours – Fee $1,995
If you find that furniture stores make you giddy and your television seems permanently stuck on HGTV, then a career in residential interior design may be for you. This program will give you the basic skills and background you need to start working as a designer in people's homes. You'll explore the cornerstones of good design, discover how to plan spaces so that they're beautiful and functional, and see how interior design has evolved throughout history. In addition, you'll find out how you can use the elements of design, including materials, color, textiles, lighting, and accessories, to achieve a design concept. Finally, you'll get a glimpse into the excitement of running your own design business. By the end of the program, you'll be ready to seek out clients and help them transform their interiors into satisfying spaces.
In addition, you’ll be eligible upon completion of this program to take the Residential Interior Designer Exam (RIDE) through the Designer Society of America (DSA). You’ll also receive a free one-year DSA membership, and you may be able to participate in an optional 40-hour internship through DSA (where available) if you meet eligibility requirements.
Travel Agent Training – 200 Hours – Fee: $1,595
This industry-leading program prepares students for the Institute of Certified Travel Agents TAP Certification and teaches the basic skills needed to operate a computer reservation system. All materials are included.
Wind Energy Professional – 240 Hours – Fee: $2,195
n this program, you’ll learn the basics of wind energy principles, including wind technology, wind energy anatomy, wind farm design, wind business, and characteristics of energy sources. This program covers the fundamentals of hydraulics and the basic theory and practice of electrical circuits, including calculations as applied to alternating and direct currents.
