Intersession Information for Faculty

Why Teach an Intersession Class?

Instructors are able to earn additional salary by teaching an Intersession course.  Intersession also provides an opportunity to teach a special interest course.

When is Intersession?

Winter Intersession

January 5 - 20, 2010 (11 available days of instruction; more if classes are held on Saturdays). January 18 is a holiday.

May-June Intersession

May 24 - June 11, 2010 (13 available days of instruction; more if classes are held on Saturdays). The University is closed May 28 and 31.

Timeline for Winter Intersession

  1. Course proposal forms due to CGE by May 15, 2009
  2. Course list and course descriptions available to students October 12, 2009
  3. Registration—October 26 - December 1, 2009
  4. Go/No-Go determined—first week of December, 2009
  5. Go/No-Go announced—December 7, 2009

Timeline for May-June Intersession

  1. Course proposal forms due to CGE by November 2, 2009
  2. Course list and course descriptions available to students: early March, 2010
  3. Registration—March 22 - April 19, 2010
  4. Go/No-Go determined—April 20 - 23, 2010
  5. Go/No-Go announced—April 26, 2010

Who Can Teach Intersession Classes?

Regular tenure track Fresno State faculty and adjunct faculty approved by the academic department may teach in Intersession. In order to provide equity within a school or college, it is recommended that one-third of the school’s faculty be at the Assistant Professor level, one-third at the Associate Professor level and one-third be at the Full Professor level. Adjunct faculty must possess a Master's degree or higher and have verifiable teaching experience.
