Intersession Registration

Who may register for an Intersession Class?

You are not required to be formally admitted to the university to take an Intersession class. If you are 18 years of age or older or are a high school graduate and have met course prerequisites, you may register for an Intersession class. Matriculated and disqualified students, as well as the public, may take Intersession classes.

If you expect to complete degree or credential requirements through Intersession, you should confirm with your advisor regarding course applicability. Registration in Intersession does not ensure registration for, or admission to, the university, nor should it be interpreted as acceptance to any degree or credential program. If you are interested in formal admission to California State University, Fresno, contact the Office of Admissions, Records and Evaluations at 559.278.2261.

Excess Units

Students are permitted to enroll in a maximum of four units of credit during Intersession. Because of the brevity of the session, it is not recommended that you take excess units.  However, should you feel that your situation warrants special consideration, prior approval is required. Complete the form “Excess Units Petition" click here to download. Matriculated Fresno State students must see their academic dean for a signature. All others require approval by the Associate Vice President for Continuing and Global Education.

How to register

You may register online or in person at the Division of Continuing and Global Education beginning March 19 through April 23, 2012. Fees are due on April 23. The Division is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Matriculated Fresno State students may register by logging in to my.csufresno.edu.

New or non-matriculated students should visit  http://www.csufresno.edu/cge/registration/credit.shtml for registration instructions.

The go/no-go list of Intersession classes will be published on the CGE website on April 26, 2012. Beginning April 26 through the first day of class additional registrations will be accepted (space permitting) for classes declared a "go". Beginning April 26, all fees must be paid within 24 hours of registration.

A $10 late fee will apply for registration after the first day of class. No registrations will be accepted after the second class meeting.

Fees

Fees are $290 per unit and payment is due on December 1, 2011. Fee payment holds your place in class. If you are submitting payment to the Accounting office or Cashiers windows (mail-in or walk-in), please be sure to indicate that payment is for a CGE course so that your payment is receipted correctly.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid may be available for matriculated students enrolled in a minimum of 6 units of degree-relevant coursework during the summer (May-June Intersession and Summer Session combined). Students must have unused financial aid in the previous academic year.  Summer Interest Forms will be available in the Financial Aid Office beginning April 9 and must be submitted by May 11, 2012. These forms must be returned to Financial Aid by May 11 to qualify for summer financial aid.
Questions? Please check with the Financial Aid Office.

Forms

The following forms can be found on the Continuing and Global Education website (www.csufresno.edu/cge/forms):

  • Registration form
  • Program Change form
  • Excess Units Petition

Grading Option

Select your choice of grading option—Letter; CR/NC (credit or no credit), or Audit—choosing only what is available for your class (verify with department if enrolling in person). The grading option you designate is what will be posted on your permanent transcript, providing that option is available for the course.

Changes in Grading Option must be made no later than Friday of the first week of class. For classes meeting four or fewer days, changes in Grading Option must be made prior to the class start date.

Wait List

There is no wait list; however, if space can be made for you in the class, your instructor may give you a permission number to add the class.

Go/No-Go

Decisions about which Intersession classes “go” will be made based upon the number of registrations received by April 23, 2012. On April 26, the list of courses declared a “go” will be posted on the website: ww.csufresno.edu/cge/intersession. Classes with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled. If your class is cancelled by the University, you may enroll in a different Intersession class, or you will receive an automatic refund. (See Drop/Withdrawal/Refunds.)

Late Registrations

Beginning April 26, if there is space in the class, you may enroll through the first day of class. This is the Immediate Pay Registration period and fees are due within 24 hours of registration. There is a $10 late fee per course for registrations received after the first day of class. No registrations will be accepted after the second class meeting.

Registration Fees and Course Fees

Registration fees are $290 per unit and are due April 23. Non-payment of fees cancels your online registration within 24 hours, beginning April 24, 2012.

Drop/Withdrawal/Refunds

Students who fail to attend class may receive a failing grade unless they formally drop the class.

To add or drop an Intersession class, go to my.csufresno.edu or complete the program change form (http://www.csufresno.edu/cge/forms) and submit to the Division of Continuing and Global Education.

No drops are allowed after the fourth calendar day. Students who have a serious and compelling reason and who wish to drop on the fifth calendar day or later may petition to drop with a grade of “W.”  Pick up a Request for Record Adjustment in the Division of Continuing and Global Education or obtain the form online: http://csufresno.edu/are/forms/Record_Adjustment.pdf.  Submit the request to the Admissions, Records and Evaluations Office in the Joyal Building, Room 106.

Students who drop the course prior to the start date of the course can receive a full refund minus a $10 processing fee. If you withdraw on or after the first class meeting of a face-to-face class, 65 percent of fees collected can be refunded until 25 percent of the course time has elapsed. For online and arranged classes lasting 5 days or more, 65 percent of fees collected can be refunded until 25 percent of the class has elapsed. After 25 percent of the course time has elapsed, no refund will be made. There is no refund for classes meeting fewer than 5 sessions or lasting fewer than 5 days, once the class has begun. No refund is made unless requested by the student, except for cancelled classes which are refunded automatically.

Grades

Intersession grades will be averaged into the student’s Fresno State GPA. Grades will be available after June 22, 2012 at my.csufresno.edu.
