Certificate Programs
Certificate Programs are designed for adults who are seeking in-depth knowledge or competency in a specialized area but who do not need a degree. With segments building upon one another, these programs help increase participants' advancement and/or career options.
For details on available certificate programs, see the current online catalog, or contact the Extension Programs Office, (559) 278-0333.
Why take a Certificate Program?
Certificate Programs help participants broaden their knowledge and skills, increase their promotability and career options, provide opportunities for examining a new field, and document participation in learning a specific discipline.
Who can enroll in a Certificate Program?
Enrollment is open to community participants and advanced students who can benefit from specialized university study. Formal university application is not required. Just complete a registration form (found in the back of this catalog) and submit it to the Division of Continuing and Global Education. Enrollment in many programs is limited and early registration is recommended.
Where and when are certificate courses held?
Most courses are offered in the evenings and on weekends on the university campus.
How long does it take to complete a Certificate Program?
The programs vary in length. Some may be completed in one semester; others run longer.
May I take one course without being enrolled in the Certificate Program?
In some cases, courses may be taken individually or as part of the Certificate Program requirements. However, priority is given to students who enroll for the full Program.
