Angkor Wat and Vietnam with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

This Smithsonian Journey begins in Bangkok and includes visits to Angkor Wat, Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta. Explore the details and significance of the exquisite Khmer and Hindu art found within the Angkor temples, the 12th-century masterpiece of Cambodia's Khmer Empire. Renowned for some of the world's finest archaeological sites, Southeast Asia offers a splendid array of ancient treasures. Expert local historians and an archaeologist present discussions along the way that explore the history, culture and modern life in this fascinating region of the world. Learn about the conservation efforts in Angkor during a specially arranged lecture, and enhance your visit to Vietnam with a discussion on the impact of foreign influence and control on current Vietnamese political policies and economic issues. Program fee: $5,799 per person, double occupancy, including round-trip airfare from Fresno, hotel transfers, cancellation waiver and insurance, and 33 meals during the trip.
