Spring 2007 - Glenn Gaesser, Ph.D. from the University of Virginia visited in Spring 2007. Dr. Gaesser is a leading authority in the issue of obesity, author of numerous best selling books. Since graduating with is doctorate from UC Berkley, Dr. Gaesser has had a long history publishing in exercise and sport science. Dr. Gaesser's talk dispelled some the myths surrounding the obesity epidemic. His recommendations center on the benefits of physical fitness at any size.
Summer 2006 - Myofascial release and muscle energy techniques. Tony Marek, M.S., ATC from Manual Therapy Associates in Reno, NV presented a lecture/workshop on myofacial release and muscle energy techniques. This event was CATA approved for 6.00 CEU's (Ed Ferrera, ATC, Fresno State Athletics, CATA Regional Director).
May 2006 - Advanced Taping and Bracing Techniques. Ron O'Neil, MS, ATC, former Head ATC with the New England Patriots, presented a lecture/workshop on advanced taping and bracing. This event was CATA approved for 2.00 CEU's (Ed Ferrera, ATC, Fresno State Athletics, CATA Regional Director).

April 2006 - Best Practices for Sports Medicine in Professional Basketball. Tom Abdenour, M.A., ATC, Head Athletic Trainer for the NBA's Golden State Warriors gave a lecture to athletic training students on best practices for sports medicine in professional basketball and summarized his career path.
April 2006 - College of Health and Human Services (and Dr. Wade Gilbert, Department of Kinesiology) hosted the visit of Robert Pengrazzi, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus from Arizona State University. Dr. Pengrazzi is an expert in the field of physical activity and sport, author of over 40 textbooks and over 100 peer-review journal articles. He took time to meet with Fresno State students in classes and advised faculty in athletic training on their current research projects.
April 2006 - Central California Sports Medicine Institute Stakeholders Meeting (agenda and list of participants)
March 2006 - California State University Athletic Training Educators' Colloquium. The Athletic Training Education Program at California State University, Fresno hosted the inaugural CSU Athletic Training Educators' Colloquium. Led by a grant authored jointly by CSU Humboldt faculty member Thomas J. "TK" Koesterer, PhD, ATC and CSU Fresno faculty member Scott Sailor, Ed.D., ATC, the university system funded the visit of faculty from every CSU location offering a degree program in athletic training. Numerous faculty and athletic training program directors and clinical coordinators from non-CSU institutions also participated in this event.
