Joint Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program (DPT)
Fresno State is approved for a joint DPT with University of California, San Francisco
On behalf of the Department of Physical Therapy, we are pleased to announce that Fresno State received approval for the joint DPT program with UCSF effective Fall 2007. The California Postsecondary Education Commission concurred with the UC Coordinating Committee on Graduate Affairs endorsement of the proposed program, and the CSU-UC Joint Graduate Board approved the proposal, effective March 1, 2007. We received the final approval from Chancellor Reed on March 12, 2007 with the condition that we meet all related accreditation requirements of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
With the implementation of this joint DPT program, students will complete 2 years of study in the professional (MPT) program, sit for the National Licensing Examination and then continue in the Post-professional DPT Program (9 months). While studying in the DPT, it is possible for students to work part-time. It is the intent of the Department to offer only a 3 year entry-level DPT by 2010.
