Joint Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program (DPT)

On behalf of the Department of Physical Therapy, we are pleased to announce that Fresno State received approval for the joint DPT program with UCSF effective Fall 2007. With the implementation of this joint DPT program, students will complete 2 years of study in the professional (MPT) program, sit for the National Licensing Examination and then continue in the Post-professional joint clinical DPT Program (9 months). While studying in the DPT, it is possible for students to work part-time. It is the intent of the Department to offer only a 3 year entry-level DPT by 2010.

  • The Department of Physical Therapy is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) for the MPT program through 2016, however the new standard of education for entry-level practice is the DPT. Therefore, at Fresno State it is recommended that students complete both the MPT-DPT graduate program. It is the intent of the program to become a 3 year entry-level DPT program accredited by CAPTE by 2010.
