Gerontology Program
The Interdisciplinary Gerontology Program
The mission of the Interdisciplinary Gerontology Program is to enhance the university's educational objectives by promoting the understanding of aging and later life. The study of aging is approached from a cross-disciplinary and multi-dimensional perspective. The program offers core courses in gerontology and includes classes from Social Work, Biology, Recreation Administration, Psychology, and Women's Studies. The Interdisciplinary Gerontology Program offers a Minor in Gerontology and The Gerontological Specialist Certificate. A special major in gerontology may also be designed. Please see Dr. Miltiades if you are interested in designing a special major in gerontology.
Minor in Gerontology
The Interdisciplinary Minor in Gerontology is open to students in any major. It is also designed to serve those currently working for service agencies for the aging as well as aging individuals who are interested in gaining greater insight into this period of their lives. The minor consists of 15 semester units of credit.
