Recreation Administration is a leader when it comes to experiential learning

Message from the Chair

Sam LankfordWelcome to Fresno State’s Department of Recreation Administration. Nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions, the department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration.

We'd like you to consider the diversity and impact of the parks and recreation profession!

The local and regional parks provided an economic impact in the United States of $140 billion in economic activity in 2015, and supported another 1 million jobs. Also, according to the Outdoor Industry Association, “more than 140 million Americans make outdoor recreation a priority in their daily lives. Americans spend $646 billion on outdoor recreation,” resulting in 6.1 million American jobs.”  If you have an interest in working in this rewarding field, the department offers an opportunity to specialize in Adventure Recreation, Community Recreation and Youth Services, Commercial Recreation and Event Management, Sports and Entertainment Facility Management, and Therapeutic Recreation.
