Academic Counselor
Frank Castro
As the General Education Academic Counselor for the College of Health & Human Services, Frank Castro provides a variety of services designed to help students achieve their educational goals and effectively use the resources of the university. He can provide assistance with academic advisement and planning, academic petition procedures, course scheduling, general education advising, special major advising, and interpreting university policies, regulations, and procedures.
Frank Castro has been advising here at Fresno State for close to 12 years. Prior to working for Advising Services and the College of Health & Human Services, he worked as a Student Services Professional for the College of Science & Mathematics for 8½ years. Mr. Castro also counseled during the Summer Bridge Program and taught its University 1 course for 7 summers.
Frank first entered Fresno State as an EOP student and attended what was then the EOP Summer Institute. He worked during his undergraduate studies as a peer advisor for the Summer Bridge Program prior to earning a B.S. in Criminology with a Law Enforcement Option. Mr. Castro also earned an M.S. in Criminology along with Academic Certificates in "Serving At-Risk Youth" and "Cross-Cultural Competency."
