2007 Refresh - Weekend August 4th & 5th

We are planning to refresh the majority of the 260 workstations over the weekend of August 4th and 5th. We will require all to perform backups prior to that point; detailed instructions forthcoming. Our Pilot is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24 and we will be able to confirm all procedures and instructions distributed thus far. We are working closely with Facilities, ITS, Plant Ops and Public Safety and other CIS staff in an attempt to make this Refresh as smooth as possible.

New Systems: Optiplex 745 and Latitude D630

• Current systems have 512MB RAM and new systems will have 2GB RAM (4 times more)
• Current systems have 64 MB graphic card and new systems will have 128 MB graphic cards.
• New systems won't have floppy drives.
• Current desktops are large tower units and new desktops will be much smaller (see pics below)
• Current desktops have 80GB HD(hard disk) and new desktops will have 160GB.
• Current laptops have 40GB HD and new laptops will have 80GB HD
