Student UnionThe Department of Communication at California State University, Fresno offers a blend of traditional and contemporary understandings of communication.  The program presents a balance of humanistic and scientific instruction including communication skills people need to function effectively in teaching, business, law, the communication professions, public service, politics and management. Students have an opportunity to explore the full range of human communication.

Office Location

The main office is in Speech Arts Room 15 (see campus map). There are two entrances convenient to the Department; one in the northeast corner of the Speech arts building near the rose garden and another on the east side of the Speech Arts building facing Joyal Administration.

Office Hours

The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 am-12 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm.  The office is closed from 12 pm to 1 pm for lunch.

Notice of Department Closure

Due to exceptional budgetary cuts by the State of California, the Department of Communication main office is required to be closed on the following days:

August (2009) 3 & 10

September 4 & 25

October 9 & 23

November 25 & 30

December 24 & 31

January (2010) 4 & 15

February 12 & 26

March 29 & 30

April 5 & 19

May 14 & 28

June 4 & 18

No Department of Communication staff support is available during the closures.  In addition, faculty are furloughed two days a month.  Faculty furlough days individualy vary.  Please contact your faculty member to determine their availability.  Classes scheduled to meet on the above listed dates may still meet.  Please contact your faculty member to determine your class meeting schedule
