Interests: Rhetorical Criticism and Theory, American Public Address, Women's Studies
Dr. Blair's scholarship reflects her interests as a feminist rhetorical critic and historian of American political discourse, and her research features the rhetorical performances of first ladies and other women advocates in the public sphere. Her recent publications include a book chapter on Rosalynn Carter in Inventing A Voice: The Rhetoric of American First Ladies of the Twentieth Century and a chapter on the advocacy of Eleanor Roosevelt in Civil Rights Rhetoric and the American Presidency. She has also published articles in Rhetoric and Public Affairs and Communication Quarterly. In Fall 2006, Dr. Blair was on sabbatical researching rhetorical campaigns of women who have run for the U.S. Presidency.
