CSU Fresno AFROTC wins High Flight Award for third time in five years

Fresno State's Air Force ROTC Detachment 35 won the High Flight Award for AFROTC's Southwest Region for the third time in five years. The award honors the best unit of the year in the region, which extends from Mississippi to Hawaii, including all of California and Texas.

Detachment 035 won the mid-size and small-size detachment High Flight Awards for AFROTC’s Southwest Region in 2008 and 2009. This year, Detachment 35 is the "Best in the Southwest" in the small detachment category (1-67 cadets).

CSU Fresno AFROTC cadet receives Daedalian Foundation AFROTC Scholarship Award

CSU Fresno student, AFROTC Cadet Matthew Alldritt, was awarded a Daedalian Foundation AFROTC Scholarship. Cadet Alldritt was selected as one of only six recipients nationwide for this award, which recognizes outstanding pilot candidates in the AFROTC program. The Order of Daedalians is a national fraternity of commissioned military pilots organized to perpetuate the spirit of patriotism, love of country, and ideals of self-sacrifice, which place service to the nation above personal safety or position.

CSU Fresno AFROTC cadet elected Vice President of National Student Nurses' Association

CSU Fresno Nursing student, AFROTC Cadet John Conner, was recently elected as Vice President of the National Student Nurses Association. With a membership of approximately 60,000 nationwide, the National Student Nurses' Association mentors the professional development of future registered nurses and facilitates their entrance into the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities, and career guidance.

CSU Fresno AFROTC cadet receives 2010 Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement

Fresno State Nursing student, AFROTC Cadet Geoffrey Viray, was awarded the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement for 2010.  An association of those whose valor has been recognized by award of the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, or Air Force Cross, the Legion of Valor also recognizes outstanding AFROTC cadets by awarding its Bronze Cross for Achievement.  This award recognizes Cadet Viray, current cadet commander of Fresno State's 35th AFROTC Cadet Wing, as the top junior cadet in the southwestern United States, and one of the top 4 junior cadets among all 144 AFROTC detachments nationwide representing over 1,000 schools and over 15,000 cadets.

CSU Fresno's Air Force ROTC Detachment 35 won the mid-size detachment High Flight Award for AFROTC’s Southwest Region last year, and just found out that for the second year in a row, Detachment 35 is the "Best in the Southwest", now in the small detachment category (1-60 cadets). The award honors the best unit of the year in the region, which extends from Mississippi to Hawaii, including all of California and Texas.

Fresno State's Air Force ROTC Detachment 35 won the High Flight Award for AFROTC's Southwest Region. The award honors the best unit of the year in the region, which extends from Mississippi to Hawaii, including all of California and Texas.

"This honor is a direct reflection of the hard work our cadets put toward their dreams of becoming Air Force lieutenants and future leaders for our nation," said Lt. Col. Sam Vandiver, commander of the Fresno State detachment.
