in the New Millennium"
James
Randi is an internationally known exposer of pseudoscientific nonsense. The
College of Science and Mathematics teaches a "Science and Nonsense" course
as part of the GE critical thinking curriculum. James Randi is a well-known
hero to those of us who teach this course. We were pleased to honor him at
a reception held before his ULS presentation in the SSU. For more information

Earth Science Week 2007
Tuesday, October 16th at 6 p.m, Smittcamp Alumni House
Dr. Richard Boolootian, class of 1951, will present a talk entitled, "Passion for Science as Inspired by President Joyal and Fresno State"
Faculty, staff, students, and the public are invited to Smitcamp Alumni House at 6 p.m.. Dr. Boolootian will speak and share a film about his work on the Space Shuttle Program with a special dedication by his friend, Buzz Aldrin. Earth Science Week at Fresno State also includes bringing children to campus for interactive learning about the earth and making fossil casts. This year Dr. Kerry Ford is hosting kids from Miramonte, Dry Creek, and Garfield elementary schools. Young scientists will enjoy their own talk by Dr. Boolootian called "Corals, Atolls, Sea Urchins, and Atomic Bombs."

Atmospheric Chemistry After Dark

The daytime photochemical reactions that generate O3 pollution have been the
subject of intense study over the last several decades. Less well studied are
a set of reactions that occur in the nighttime atmosphere through the formation
of the nitrate radical, NO3, and dinitrogen pentoxide, N2O5. This talk will
discuss the implications for air quality on regional scales. Abstract
