Congratulations to the students and faculty in our program for the success of the student teams in Associated Schools of Construction Annual Student Competition held in Reno from Feb 6-9. This annual competition attracts about 1200 students from 41 universities and about 600 industry professionals across the country.
This year, the LCOE CM Program’s Heavy Civil team placed first and the LEED team placed second in their respective categories. This is quite an accomplishment, especially since these students competed against teams from universities such as Arizona State, Boise State, University of Southern California, Brigham Young University, CSU-Chico, CSU-Sacramento, Cal. Poly (SLO), Colorado State, University of Florida, University of New Mexico, University of Washington, Virginia Tech, and Weber State. Furthermore, two of our students were among the alternate teams who were placed first (Ms. Hosanna Kessler) in the alternate category and closest bid in the alternate competition (Mr. Denver Edwards).
The LCOE CM teams was mentored by our faculty and several industry coaches and mentors.
The Heavy Civil Team mentors were from Tiechert and Lyles Construction Group, and
the LEED coach was from Day Masonry.
Our students also participated in other categories such as Commercial, Design Build and Pre-Construction. Harris Construction, Ardent, Durham Construction, Kasco Fab also provided mentors.
