San Joaquin Literary Association (SJLA)

The SJLA is comprised of graduate students in Creative Writing, Literature, and Composition, as well as undergraduates in English and the arts. The group’s goals are to stage significant literary events on campus and to reinforce the importance of literature within the university community.

Chicano Writers and Artists Association

The Chicano Writers and Artists Association (CWAA) is an organization that was founded in 1990 by Dan Chacon and the late Andre Montoya. Through this organization, we have been able to put together and distribute our literary journal, Flies, Cockroaches and Poets, which gives a creative outlet for a group of writers and artists that reflects this community. Over the years, the journal's notoriety has increased along with the quality of the submissions we receive. We have also received works from such renowned poets as Gary Soto and Luis Omar Salinas, both CSU Fresno alumni.
