Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California
The Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC) is a non-profit ancillary unit of the California State University, Fresno, that was established through the College of Science and Mathematics with a single research group, whose mission was to further teaching and research in biological science and technology with a particular emphasis on forensics and the applications of biological advancements to the law.
Since this time, the FBIC has expanded its scope to include research groups investigating both pure and applied problems in biology and chemistry. Today the FBIC seeks to establish research-based, service-oriented partnerships between the college's Professional Science Masters Degree Programs in Forensic Science and Biotechnology and the communities we serve.
The California State University, Fresno, is recognized as one of the top 10 engaged Universities in the United States by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and is listed on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. We are especially proud of our community partnership with Agricultural Priority Pollutants Laboratories, Inc., a fully accredited industry leader in analytical chemistry, servicing environmental concerns. The FBIC Laboratory, housed within the APPL facility, allows Professional Science Masters Degree students to conduct their own research within a full-service laboratory whose hallmark is rapid responsive service, turnaround time, and the production of legally-defensible scientific data.
