Training in Forensic DNA Analysis in Partnership with the Forensic Training Network

The goal of this course is to provide a thorough understanding of the existing chemistries, technologies, and methodologies used in forensic DNA testing, and the scientific basis and theories applied to laboratory analysis workflow. This is accomplished through both lectures and hands-on exercises. Students will perform each step of forensic DNA analysis, including DNA sample collection, basic serology analysis, DNA extraction, quantification, STR amplification, capillary electrophoresis, data analysis, and data interpretation. Written examinations will be administered to ensure competency, and certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
