Analytical Services
The Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC) is setting a new standard for scope, accuracy, expertise, and innovation in California’s Central Valley. Steadily building upon a foundation of excellence at the California State University, Fresno, we are a preferred partner for clients seeking services and expertise in both analytical chemistry and molecular genetic testing.
Analytical Testing. Through our relationship with our industrial partners, namely APPL, as well as other research and analytical groups on campus such as the Central California Analytical Facility, we consistently provide timely and authoritative results, capable of withstanding the most challenging judicial scientific review.
Forensic and Ancient DNA Analysis. The Human Identification Research Group offers PCR-based DNA testing services from forensic as well as archaeological ancient tissues – most notably calcified tissues such as bones and teeth, as well as other tissue such as hair. This analysis makes it possible to ascertain the identity of an individual of forensic interest as well as the sex of the individual and/or to identify the likely biological source population of a given archaeological sample.
The Human Identification Research Group does not currently engage in routine forensic testing. Analytical testing of human remains is conducted in special cases to assist law enforcement and in cases involving a significant research question. Please contact the institute for further information.
