Ballad of the CGS

He enlisted thirteen years ago
And there's nothing about the Army he don't know
He can march and he can fight
Bet your boots he does it right

And there ain't nobody tells 'im where to go
He grew up on his daddy's one-horse farm
Turned eighteen and signed up with the combat arms

They put him to the acid test
Sent his ass to CGS
Trying to help him cultivate some natural charm

They met him at the gate to Leavenworth
Told him, "You're the most shit-hot thing on this Earth,
Boy, you're in the upper half!"
Then they wondered why he laughed
And why he cursed the hour of his birth
