The Professional Science Masters Degree in Forensic Science program provides "science plus" graduate-level education. Our Program is designed to prepare a workforce with advanced science and professional training. Professional Science Masters (PSM) programs are receiving national recognition as the best way to prepare the science and technology workforce. There are now over 125 PSM degree programs across the U.S., and Fresno State has been a pioneer in program development and implementation.
Fresno State is also a University engaged with its community. Our Council of Graduate Schools-approved Forensic Science Program was designed in partnership with public and private-sector associates to ensure that we meet the current and future needs for a skilled forensic workforce throughout the nation.
We currently enjoy the following strategic partnerships:
- The California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services Fresno Laboratory, located on the Fresno State campus,
- Regional and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, such as the Fresno County Sheriff's Forensic Laboratory and the Fresno County Office of the Coroner,
- Private-sector partners such as Agriculture and Priority Pollutants Laboratories (APPL) - recognized by federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a leader in analytical chemistry testing - and host to the Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC), and
- The Forensic Training Network - recognized by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) as a leader in professional forensic education.
