Special Programs

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences participates in two Special Programs within the University. In each of these interdisciplinary clusters, students register for a group of related courses taught by three faculty members. The faculty are from the Departments of E and ES, Biology, and a third discipline, which depends on the program. The students and faculty spend much of their time studying "on location", in the field. In both programs most of the units are applied to General Education requirements. The MNE Program is designed primarily for introductory level students. The SPS Program is at a more advanced level, but beginning level students are accepted. Both programs offer unique educational opportunities.
