2007 Phyllis Watts Eudy Award
Simon Haeder, MA International Relations
In memory of Dean Emerita Phyllis Watts Eudy and her commitment to bringing talented international students to our campus, a fund was established to recognize an outstanding international graduate student.
Simon Haeder, from Germany, is graduating this semester with a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. During his graduate degree program, Simon was a member of eight national honorary societies and five professional societies. He served as the Maddy Institute Scholar Internship Coordinator, supervising 33 interns and interacting with numerous state and federal legislative offices. He worked last summer in the office of U.S. Congressman Dennis Cardoza on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. While pursing his master's degree, Simon served on eight advisory committees, was President of the Residence Hall Association, and served as Senator for the College of Social Sciences in student government. Following his graduation from Fresno State, Simon will be continuing his studies toward a Ph.D. degree at the University of Oklahoma. His faculty recommendations state that Simon exemplifies the highest standards of ethical, creative, and effective professional achievement, demonstrates strong leadership abilities, and is absolutely one of the brightest and most involved students this university has ever graduated.
