Alejandro Juarez, M.A., Education
-- Counseling and Student Services
Alejandro Juarez is the first in his family to
graduate from college. He earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies and now
receives a M.A. in Counseling and Student Services with a Pupil
Personnel Services credential, with a 3.85 GPA. When Alejandro was
15, his father, two uncles and three cousins were killed in a tragic,
multi-car accident and Alejandro took on family responsibilities
for his mother and two younger brothers. He continues serving others
through Nu Alpha Kappa, a Latino-based Greek organization in Fresno.
He served two terms as president, and helped organize fund raisers,
volunteered with elementary children in tutoring and mentoring and
organized the first Latino Bone Marrow Drive on campus. For the
past five years, he has been part of the Summer Bridge Program,
which is designed to provide services to underrepresented minority
students to help them make the transition to college life.
