Cherry McFadden, M.S.,
Family and Consumer Sciences
Cherry McFadden completed requirements for
an M.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences degree last August and currently
is a teaching assistant and guest lecturer at Fresno State. She
also is part-time coordinator of the Fresno Learning Activities
in Retirement (FLAIR) program. As a graduate student, she maintained
a 4.0 GPA and her master's thesis, which dealt with grandparenting,
is called by faculty a valuable advancement in her field in helping
understand the importance of the extended family. She is a member
of five honor societies and received eight scholarships and two
fellowships. She was president, secretary, and treasurer of the
local chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron, which presented her the Outstanding
Service Award for two consecutive years. She also earned the Berry-Jackson
Leadership Award for two years.
