IMPORTANT ACADEMIC YEAR CHANGES
Admissions Process Change
Graduate Admissions is working toward a partial electronic process for Graduate Coordinators to admit students. Please watch the GradInfo Listserv for an invitation to attend an info meeting regarding the development of the process so far. You will have opportunity to see a demo, ask questions, and provide input.
Retroactive Withdrawal Request Procedure Change
There has been a process change for graduate students requesting retroactive withdrawals from courses. They may pick up the new form (Request for Record Adjustment) at the Registrar's Office in Joyal or from the DGS Office in Thomas 132. Once completed and all signatures acquired, it needs to be turned in to the Registrar's Office in Joyal. DGS will no longer be handling the completed forms.
Academic Probation and Academic Disqualification Notification Change
Academic Probation and Academic Disqualification from the university are now being processed electronically by the Advising Office in cooperation with DGS. Departments will be provided with a list of all students in their programs (grad and undergrad) who have been placed on probation or have been disqualified. You will not receive notification from DGS. There is now a new category called "disqualified readmitted" that allows a disqualified graduate student one semester to achieve a 3.00 for the semester to remain in the university. Students who do not achieve a 3.00 during the "readmit" semester are disqualified. There is no appeal process. Disqualified students who are readmitted will remain on Academic Probation until their overall GPA is 3.00 or above. Please contact Dianne Dickerson at 8-2448 or email dianned@csufresno.edu if you have any questions.
Handbook Revisions
Revisions to the Graduate Coordinator Handbook were sent to graduate coordinators and department chairs in August. The Web version of the Handbook has been updated, too.
Forms On Line
We've made more DGS forms available from our Web site. Just click "Forms" on the left side bar of nearly every DGS Web page. The forms on the Web page have been grouped by subject. Additionally, there's a "short list" Web page of the downloadable DGS forms.
