There were a record number of presenters at the 30th Annual Central California Research Symposium, held April 23 at the University Business Center on the campus of California State University, Fresno. Hosted by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at California State University, Fresno, the Symposium serves to bring together investigators, students, and faculty from a variety of disciplines to share the results of their scholarly work. Co-sponsors of the event include the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno Medical Education Program, and Alliant International University.

The 23rd Annual CSU Student Research Competition was held at CSU Los Angeles on May 1-2. Undergradute student Heather Upton (left) won first place within the Biological and Agricultural Sciences Undergraduate Division at the CSU Student Research Competition. Heather was also the American Chemical Society winner at our Central California Research Symposium which was held on April 23. Heather's faculty mentor is Dr. Mamta Rawat and her research is on the Degradation of Malachite Green in Mycobacterium smegmatis. Click here to review Fresno State's delegation.
