The CSU Alcohol Traffic Safety (ATS) Grant addresses alcohol-related incidents at the college level, particularly driving under the influence and general incidents related to alcohol abuse. CSU ATS supports and stimulates the environmental management approach by campus Alcohol Councils via mini-grant special Grant funding. These mini-grants support interventions that could include safe rides programs, social norms marketing, and/or peer education activities.
Eight CSU campuses benefit from this grant. The eight campuses are Channel Islands, Fresno, Humboldt, Los Angeles, Cal Maritime, Northridge, San Francisco, and San Jose.
The goals of the CSU Alcohol and Traffic Safety grant are:
1. To reduce the incidence of driving after consuming alcohol by 18-25 year-old CSU students by 5% from each campus’ 2005 base year total by September 30, 2009.
2. To reduce the incidence of alcohol-related misconduct by CSU students by 5% from each campus’ 2005 base year total by September 30, 2009.
