John P. Farrell,
Ph.D.
Lecturer
Dr. John P. Farrell earned his Ph.D. from UC
Davis in 2004, specializing in the history of Modern Europe
generally, with emphases in intellectual and cultural history, and
with a concentration on Eastern Europe in the same period and all
of Russia’s history. A Fulbright-Hays scholar, his research has
centered on the role of architectural treasures in Russian social
memory and cultural politics, and is entitled, “If These
Stones Could Only Speak: Russian Historical and Cultural
Preservation in a Soviet Setting, 1955-1966.” He also earned
a M.A. and B.A. from Fresno State. Dr. Farrell has an extensive
ten-year record of teaching experience at all levels of
post-secondary education, including working with students of all
backgrounds at schools as diverse as Fresno State, UC Davis,
Fresno City College, and Fresno Pacific University. He has taught
lower-division surveys in U.S., World Civilization, Western
Civilization, and Eurasian Civilization, upper-division courses in
historical methods and research, Modern Europe, including all of
Russia, Early Modern Europe, and European Cultural History. He is
in the 2005 Who’s Who Among American Teachers, has
presented his research at numerous national conventions in the
U.S. and Canada, has published over a dozen encyclopedia articles,
but relishes most being in the classroom with students looking to
improve themselves in all ways. |
