Activities & Events
Annual Initiation of Members
Chapter 062 holds an annual event each spring semester for the initiation of new members and for the public recognition of individuals who have contributed to the advancement of academic excellence at Fresno State. Click HERE to view photos of our most recent initiation event.

Benefit Concerts
Our chapter occasionally presents concerts by world renown Department of Music faculty musicians who donate their talents for the raising of funds for our scholarship trust fund. The perpetual fund provides the financial support for our chapter's student scholarships. Click HERE to view photos of our most recent concert production.

Carillon Bells
The Phi Kappa Phi Centennial March, composed by John Marshall Bliss, a Chapter 062 member, is played randomly throughout the year on the university's carillon bells.  The week of the annual initiation of members, the centennial march is played as the only selection during the entire week.

Free Lecture Presentations and Musical Recitals
During alternating spring semesters, Chapter 062 presents musical recitals by the Department of Music's world renown faculty and presentations, lectures, and/or seminars given by the university's top faculty who are highly respected in their fields. These presentations are provided free of charge to the campus and Fresno community.

Library Displays
Through annual library displays, Chapter 062 recognizes students, chapter activities, awards, concerts and events, member authors and the Society. Click HERE to view photos of our most recent displays.

University Honors and Awards
Established in 1996 by Chapter 062, the event provides public recognition for academic excellence at the university level. Recognition is provided for 4.00 grade point average undergraduate students, Rodman Scholars, McNair Scholars, and Phi Kappa Phi awardees.

Program Participation
Smittcamp Family Honors College
We are in the process of establishing and defining a working relationship with the newly established honors college.  The director  of the honors college, Stephen Rodemeyer, is a member of our chapter and has agreed to this relationship.  Click HERE if you would like to go to the Smittcamp Family Honors College Home Page.

University One
University One is a course recommended for all entering students, both Freshmen and transfer students. The course, originated by several Chapter 062 members and other faculty, introduces the students to the university and instills guidelines to achieve the greatest success from the university. Included in the required reading for this course is a folio on honor societies, their purpose and those societies available at Fresno State, with special emphasis on Phi Kappa Phi and Chapter 062. Several of our Chapter 062 members are regular instructors for University One.

Publications
Chapter Brochure
This publication describes Chapter 062, membership requirements, benefits of membership, the chapter's pledge and chapter history.

Honor Society Brochure
This publication supports the value of honor societies and lists the honor societies active at California State University, Fresno.   The name, classification, membership and contact person is presented for each honor society.

Academic Excellence Brochure
This publication discusses what activities a student might pursue to achieve greater academic excellence during the university experience.

Chapter 062 Bookmark
This publication presents information about The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and contact information for Chapter 062.  The publication is presented in a bookmark format.

Chapter 062 Reporter
This newsletter, the first issue released in recognition of National Phi Kappa Phi Week, April 9-15, 2000, will be published initially once each semester. The newsletter will highlight chapter activities and interesting news relating to the chapter and the the chapter's members. Distribution of the newsletter will be made to campus members and others who request a copy. Contact Denise Biggert at 278-2061 for more information.

Honor Societies
Chapter 062 plays an important role in the recognition of the purpose of honor societies and in the recognition of the honor societies active at Fresno State.  Phi Kappa Phi also serves as the Webmaster for the Fresno State Honor Societies' Home Page, http://www.csufresno.edu/honorsocieties.

Chapter 062
Our web site not only serves as a source of information and recognition for our campus members, students and academic community, but also as a source of materials and processes, developed by our chapter, for the benefit of other Society chapters who would like to use our materials and ideas as an inspiration for the development of their own programs.

Chapter and National Benefits

Fellowship
Seniors who will be graduating at the end of the spring semester or following fall semester may enter the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Competition. Applications are available each November 1st. From the applications received each year, the chapter selects one student to represent Chapter 062 in the national competition. Awards are presented at each year's spring membership event.

Publications
All active members receive the Society's journal, The National Forum, and and the Society's newsletter. Chapter members wishing to maintain contact with the chapter and those members wishing to participate in chapter activities may request the Chapter's newsletter, The Chapter 062 Reporter.

Public Recognition
Chapter 062 attempts to recognize members in a variety of ways.  New student members are recognized as well as other members who have contributed to the advancement of academic excellence at Fresno State.

Scholarships
The chapter awards scholarships whenever possible to outstanding students. The awarded scholarships are presented at the spring membership event. Scholarships have been awarded in amounts up to $1000 in past years. Scholarship are supported by the chapter's

Travel Opportunity
The chapter selects individuals to represent the chapter and the university at national Society functions held across the country. As a representative of the chapter, all expenses are covered. The national Society also offers travel opportunities for members who serve on national and regional committees and as national officers.
