Brief Introductory Statement:
Dr. Edinger started in the wine industry as an assistant winemaker in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, then went on to earn a Ph.D. in the study of lactic acid bacteria in wine; subsequent work was as the Research Enologist at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario (Canada), followed by stints as winemaker/production manager at another Finger Lakes winery, research associate at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva (Cornell), and twelve years as Senior Research Microbiologist for Constellation Wines U.S. in Madera, CA. Areas of interest include microbial wine spoilage, application of non-Saccharomyces yeasts in fermentation, and development of improved and automated detection and enumeration of wine microorganisms.
