Bruce Musick, a 1981 graduate of Fresno State, was in Fresno Oct. 3-9 as the university's first "Entrepreneur in Residence." Musick is the founder and managing director of Skyline Concepts, a company based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that has licensed its "eatertainment" restaurants throughout Asia and established joint ventures in the Philippines and Australia.

Musick's visit coincides with the Sid Craig School of Business's launch of the Entrepreneurship option and Entrepreneurship minor this fall.

The Entrepreneur in Residence Program is a one-week annual event that invites a selected entrepreneur to interact, learn and share entrepreneurial ideas with students, faculty, and the Valley community.

Musick said he was pleased to be the first Entrepreneur in Residence. "I believe there are students in the San Joaquin Valley with a drive to break through boundaries," Musick said. "To be successful in business of any kind, you have to be an entrepreneur at heart. Entrepreneurs recognize the environment is dynamic and have a desire to change the status quo. My visit shows a real-world example of what Valley students can achieve."

While in Fresno, Musick attended a football game in Bulldog Stadium, met with President John Welty, toured the Bulldog Brewery, visited The Big Fresno Fair, and spoke to the Entrepreneur Club. He also attended entrepreneurship classes, assisted in the New Venture Management seminar, and gave a brown bag lunch series for the Business Incubator.

"It is quite a privilege and honor to have Mr. Musick as our first Entrepreneur in Residence," said Dr. Timothy Stearns, co-ordinator of the Entrepreneurship Program and president of the Central Valley Business Incubator. "Mr. Musick came from a great distance to participate in our program, which says a lot about his dedication to instilling others with an entrepreneurial spirit."
