Topping a ceremony last spring at which 168 undergraduates and 25 graduate students were initiated into the national honor society Phi Kappa Phi, Laura Anne Hall, a senior majoring in physics, received the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi National Fellowship Award of $7,000. Hakim Opio Allen, a senior majoring in philosophy, received the local chapter's scholarship award of $1,000. A weeklong series of events honored university students and faculty, including Victor Hanson (Classical Studies), who received the 1998 University Scholar Award, and Juan Serrano (Music), who received the 1998 University Artist Award.
