Department of Criminology administrative assistant Robin Button has been named the Outstanding Employee of the Year for 1998.

For ten years Button has been the lead staff person in the nationally known and growing crim department.

An indefatigable worker, she designed the Criminology Web pages after hours; the site is considered among the best academic Web offerings on campus.

In addition to her work for the deparment, Button serves on several advisory boards, including the Journal's editorial advisory board. Last year she chaired the staff and administration President's Vision task force, working with 60 to 70 people who outlined university goals and objectives. This year she is on the implementation team for PeopleSoft, the new client/server software for campus.

Criminology chair Harvey Wallace considers Button to be indispensable. "Faculty members both within and without the department rely on her heavily for correct information," Wallace said. "Students consider Robin a ready resource and many look to her as a role model while they are here."

Button began working at Fresno State in 1985 as a temporary employee, assisting the Business Graduate Studies Program, the Economics Department and the Criminology Department. Among the criteria for her selection as Outstanding Employee of the Year were innovative problem-solving and distinguishing university contributions.
