


Dr. Tomasz R. Wielicki, professor of information systems and decision sciences in the Sid Craig School of Business, was recently awarded a Fulbright grant to serve as a visiting professor at the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland, the U.S. Information Agency and J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced in late summer.
Wielicki is one of approximately 2,000 U.S. grantees who are traveling abroad for the 1998-99 academic year through the Fulbright Program. A native of Poland who holds a doctorate from the Technical University of Wroclaw, he has been a member of the Fresno State faculty since 1984.
Wielicki was the project director for an innovative program begun in 1995, allying the Sid Craig School of Business with the Higher School of Business-National Louis University in Nowy Sacz, Poland. The project was named the best U.S. Information Agency-funded project that year.
Established in 1946 under Congressional legislation introduced
by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the Fulbright
Program is America's flagship educational exchange program and
sponsored by the U.S. Information Agency. USIA promotes mutual
understanding among nations and peoples through a number of educational
exchange activities. During its 51 years, the Fulbright Program
has exchanged nearly a quarter of a million people - more than
70,000 Americans who have studied or done research abroad and
more than 130,000 people from other countries who have come to
the U.S.
