Selma teacher Stephen Bock was named Fresno State's alumni teacher of the year for the CSU Celebrating Teachers campaign that honors one graduate from each of the system's 22 campuses.
Bock, a sixth grade teacher at Wilson Elementary School, was honored Aug. 26 in Fresno by President John D. Welty and the Fresno State Alumni Association; he was honored again Sept. 13 in Long Beach where all CSU awardees received recognition from Chancellor Charles B. Reed.
For Bock, the honor is the latest in his accomplished 12-year career. He was also named 1997 California Teacher of the Year and the 1996 Fresno County Teacher of the Year.
Bock is associate director of Fresno State's Central Valley Science Project and is also a guest lecturer at Fresno State and Fresno Pacific University. He has served as a mentor teacher for three years in his district and co-chaired the math, science and technology curriculum committee. He graduated from Fresno State in 1987 with a bachelor of arts in philosophy and a teaching credential.
As part of CSU Celebrating Teachers, the Alumni Association
and the Athletics Department will present Education Recognition
Day at the Fresno State football game Saturday, Nov. 20, at Bulldog
Stadium.
