Honors students receive laptops

Each of the 175 students in the Smittcamp Family Honors College has a new laptop computer for use this fall and throughout their stay at Fresno State, thanks to the generosity of the family of Earl and Muriel Smittcamp.

The students each received a wireless Apple iBook equipped with a CD-ROM drive, external zip drive, 320 MB SDRAM, 500-MHz PowerPC G3 processor, 10GB Ultra ATA hard disk drive.
Apple also donated a free Lexmark printer for each student and six DV cameras for the Honors College.

The Honors College admitted its first class in 1999 after receiving a $1 million gift from the Smittcamp family, a prominent agribusiness family and longtime supporters of Fresno State. High-achieving students from throughout California compete for full scholarships, priority registration and other campus privileges.
