Theatre Arts

The Theater Arts Department has announced that season tickets are now available for this academic year's performances.

Season tickets are $30 for Fresno State students, $50 for Fresno State faculty/staff, seniors, members of the Alumni Association, and students at other schools, and $60 general admission. For more information, call the Theatre Box Office at ext. 8-2216.

The first in the 2001-2002 University Theatre series is Oct. 5-7 and 9-13, with the production of "Art."

Terry Miller directs the opening production of the season. "Art" is an intriguing new play by Yasmina Reza, a French playwright.

Both funny and sad, it tells the story of three longtime friends and how their relationship is rocked when one of them, Serge, buys an expensive abstract painting. Marc, who has been Serge's longtime friend and mentor, believes that most of modern art is fraudulent and that only a phony would spend a lot of money on it. The play is more about friendship than art. It explores what can happen when friends begin to speak the thoughts they normally keep secret.
