Fresno State alumni and the entire San Joaquin Valley were invited to "come home" for a week's activities that began Sept. 24 with a kick-off pancake breakfast in the Free Speech Area. Activities during the week included a traditional pep rally at the old softball diamond attended by Coach Pat Hill and the Bulldogs.

Homecoming culminated with the game against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, won by Fresno State at Bulldog Stadium. This year's theme was "Battle for the Bone," as the two universities' canine mascots came face to face.

A weeklong schedule of events included the breakfast kickoff and opening ceremonies, door decoration and banner contests, a bone toss, a pie-eating contest and the Bulldog version of the game show, "Weakest Link."

The Sept. 29 alumni tailgate, which was open to the public, was held in Bulldog Diamond (the women's softball field) on Cedar and Barstow.

The tailgate, catered by Bulldog Brewery, featured tri-tip and chicken meals, with entertainment provided by the Fresno State Alumni Band. A bounce house and clown provided entertainment for children.

The first 200 Alumni Association members who purchased tailgate tickets received a free stadium seat cushion or a foam dog paw.
