Peters scholarship available

The Leon S. Peters Graduate Student Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000 will again be made available to a graduate student in recognition of outstanding work and potential for making contributions to the area of the graduate student's chosen career. In making this information available to your department, please be aware that the nominated individual should possess outstanding academic achievement and promise.

The deadline for nomination is Friday, Nov. 9. Candidates must be nominated by their respective departments. Only one candidate may be nominated by each department. Graduate research awards

The application deadline for the Graduate Student Research Merit Award is Friday, Oct. 26. Applications are available in the Division of Graduate Studies, Thomas Administration Building, room 132. The $500 awards are provided for meritorious graduate student research proposals associated with the thesis or project requirement. Blue Ribbons are circulating

If you have shared a ribbon recently, share the story. Human Resource's annual "Share the Ribbons" effort began again last month as a way of recognizing the many ways employees contribute to the mission of this university. On a daily basis, in small and large ways we provide that personal touch that helps students reach their academic goals. Rather than waiting until the end of the year, we will be collecting the stories of the ribbons monthly during the academic year.

So if you gave a ribbon, received a ribbon or know of someone who did, please share it with us. Send your ribbon story to me in Human Resources via e-mail (jraymond), campus mail at M/S JA41 or phone ext. 8-2364.
