New Productions at University Theatre

Two new productions are scheduled by the Theatre Arts Department before the holiday break. The Experimental Theatre Company at Fresno State presents Christopher Durang's hilarious comedy BABY WITH THE BATHWATER, directed by Sam Arredondo.

BABY WITH THE BATHWATER is the story of a child's struggle to establish his own identity, despite his parents growing derangement, and the insane stupidity of the other adult figures around him.

The New Yorker calls Christopher Durang "One of the funniest dramatists alive, and one of the most sharply satiric."

BABY WITH THE BATHWATER will perform Nov. 16 at 4:15 p.m., Nov. 17 at 2 and 8 p.m., and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. All seats are $4.

"Lysistrata" by Aristophanesis is a story set in the Peloponnesian War. The Peloponnesian War has been dragging on for 18 years, and the women of Athens are tired of the continued absence of their husbands. "Lysistrata" convinces the other women to withhold their favors until their husbands agree to end the war.

The women of warring Sparta hear of the boycott and join in. The husbands of both cities surrender, and, to recapture their love, agree to end the war.

Performance dates are Dec. 7 to 9 and Dec. 11 to 15. Season tickets are $30 for Fresno State students, $50 for Fresno State faculty/staff, seniors, members of the Alumni Association, and students at other schools, and $60 general admission. For more information, call the Theatre Box Office at ext. 8-2216.
