University Theatre presents 'Lysistrata'

Dr. Edward EmanuEl will direct "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes at the John Wright Theatre this month.

In the play, the Peloponnesian War has been dragging on for 18 years, and the women of Athens are tired of the continued absence of their husbands. Lysistrata convinces the other women to withhold their favors until their husbands agree to end the war. The women of warring Sparta hear of the boycott and join in. The husbands of both cities surrender, and, to recapture their love, agree to end the war.

Lysistrata plays Dec. 11 through Dec. 15 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for Fresno State students, $12 for faculty/staff, seniors, members of the Alumni Association, and students at other schools, and $14 general admission. For more information, call the Theatre Box Office at ext. 8-2216.

Caution: Adult Themes
