Children's author closes spring Lecture Series



 

Children's author Ann Thwaite will conclude the spring University Lecture Series on April 24 with a presentation on "Who Wrote Winnie-the-Pooh?" at 7:30 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union.

The noted British biographer is presented in partnership with the Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children's Literature.

Thwaite, Burnett's principal biographer, is author of "Waiting for the Party: The Life of Frances Hodgson Burnett, 1849-1924," "A. A. Milne: The Man Behind Winnie-the-Pooh" and "The Brilliant Career of Winnie-the-Pooh: The Definitive History of the Best Bear in All the World." Among Twaite's awards is the 1990 Whitbread Biography of the Year Award for her book "A.A. Milne: His Life."

Advance tickets are available at the University Student Union Information Desk and at Borders. Tickets are $10 general admission; $6 Fresno State faculty, staff, Alumni Association members and seniors; $5 elementary and secondary students; and $2 Fresno State students. Prices on the day of the event increase by $2 for general admission, faculty, staff and Alumni Association members.
